Chapter 3

Hours slipped by in a quiet rhythm.

Jeongukk worked through the endless stack of files his employees brought him—contracts, reports, proposals—each one reviewed with his usual cold precision.

His pen scratched softly across the paper, the only sound in the dim office besides the faint hum of the city far below.

And all the while, Jungkook stayed hidden beneath the desk.

Curled on the floor between Jeongukk’s legs, tucked safely in the shadowed space under the polished wood, the little vampire remained completely out of sight.

Jeongukk didn’t want anyone in the company seeing him.

Humans talked.

Humans snitched.

And Jungkook…

Jungkook was too innocent, too soft, too obviously not human.

One rumor, one photo, one careless whisper—and hunters would come.

Jeongukk wasn’t willing to risk that.

Not for a creature this gentle.

Not for someone who looked like he’d never harmed anything in his life.

As the day deepened and the sun dipped lower, Jungkook’s movements grew slower.

His blinking became heavier.

Eventually, exhaustion tugged him under.

He drifted into sleep, his small body relaxing completely as his head settled onto Jeongukk’s thighs.

Jeongukk froze.

Then, slowly, he looked down.

Jungkook’s pale glittery face rested peacefully against him, soft and luminous in the dim light.

His long lashes brushed his cheeks like delicate feathers.

His button nose scrunched slightly with each tiny breath.

His plush lips parted just enough to reveal a hint of those diamond‑bright teeth.

He looked…

He looked like a baby bunny that had wandered into the wrong world.

Jeongukk tried to focus on his paperwork, but his gaze kept drifting downward—again and again—as if pulled by gravity.

Something about the sleeping vampire was disarming.

Disruptive.

Too gentle for the world he’d fallen into.

The office grew darker as the sun finally disappeared behind the skyline.

Then Jungkook stirred.

A soft hum escaped him, barely audible.

He nuzzled his cheek against Jeongukk’s thighs, seeking warmth in his sleep.

The movement was so small, so trusting, that Jeongukk’s entire expression softened—completely, involuntarily.

For a moment, he simply watched Jungkook breathe.

Then Jungkook’s eyes fluttered open, slow and hazy with sleep.

Instantly, Jeongukk’s face hardened again.

His jaw tightened, his posture straightened, and he snapped his attention back to the paperwork on his desk as if he hadn’t just spent the last hour staring at the creature sleeping on him.

“Mmh… what time is it?” Jungkook murmured in his soft angelic voice, a tiny yawn slipping out as he rubbed his eyes.

“Eight P.M.,” Jeongukk replied, his deep cold voice steady as he continued reviewing paperwork.

Jungkook hummed softly, still waking up, and shifted where he sat beneath the desk.

His shoulder brushed lightly against Jeongukk’s knee—an innocent, sleepy movement—but Jeongukk’s gaze snapped downward anyway, breath catching for a split second.

Jungkook blinked up at him, confused.

“What?” he asked in that soft angelic voice, lips forming a small pout.

“Nothing,” Jeongukk said quickly, turning his attention back to the documents in front of him.

Jungkook stretched his arms above his head. “Mmh… can I come out from under the desk now?” he asked, voice small. “My back hurts…”

Jeongukk pushed his chair back slightly, giving him space.

Jungkook crawled out from beneath the desk, rising to his feet with a long stretch.

His spine popped softly, followed by a gentle roll of his shoulders and a small crack of his neck.

He puffed his cheeks out, looking relieved.

Jeongukk watched him—watched the way the little vampire moved, the way his glittery pale skin caught the dim light, the way he seemed so effortlessly otherworldly.

“What?” Jungkook asked again, tilting his head, his soft angelic voice curious.

“Doesn’t that hurt?” Jeongukk asked, brow raising slightly.

“No,” Jungkook giggled softly. “It feels good when my bones pop.”

Jeongukk blinked, momentarily thrown off by how casually the vampire said that.

His eyes lingered on Jungkook’s pale, shimmering face—still so bright, still so gentle despite everything.

“How much longer are we staying here?” Jungkook asked, pouting again.

“Not much longer,” Jeongukk replied, voice cool as always.

Jungkook nodded, then reached into his pocket.

He pulled out the necklace J‑hope had given him and carefully hooked it around his neck.

The charm glowed faintly.

Jeongukk watched—eyes widening slightly—as Jungkook’s appearance shifted.

His sparkly orange eyes softened into a warm light brown.

His glittery pale skin dimmed into a natural human tone.

The supernatural glow faded, replaced by something ordinary… yet still unmistakably beautiful.

“And where will I be staying for the month?” Jungkook asked, looking up at him with hopeful eyes.

“With me,” Jeongukk said in a deep cold voice.

He blinked again, unable to hide the flicker of surprise at how different Jungkook looked—and how human he suddenly seemed.

“Okay,” Jungkook said in his soft angelic voice, a bright smile blooming across his face.

Jeongukk blinked.

Jungkook’s teeth—no longer sharp, no longer predatory—looked completely human now.

Rounded.

Soft.

But still sparkling faintly like tiny diamonds.

Everything about him shimmered, even when he tried not to.

Jeongukk forced his attention back to the stack of paperwork on his desk, flipping through the last few files with practiced efficiency.

Meanwhile, Jungkook wandered around the office, hands tucked behind his back like a child in a museum, trying very hard not to touch anything.

He knew objects tended to… break… simply by being near him.

“What are you doing?” Jeongukk asked, not looking up, his deep cold voice filling the room.

“Looking around,” Jungkook replied in his soft angelic voice. “Your office is very tidy.”

He tilted his head, eyes scanning every perfectly aligned object. “Are you a clean freak or something?”

Jeongukk blinked, lifting his gaze to Jungkook’s delicate face.

“Yes,” he said simply. “I like everything nice and neat.”

“You’re just like my mom,” Jungkook chirped in his soft angelic voice, continuing his careful exploration.

Jeongukk hummed, returning to his paperwork.

Then—

CRACK.

The sound echoed through the office like a gunshot.

Jeongukk’s head snapped up.

Jungkook stood frozen in place, wide brown Bambi eyes staring straight ahead.

Behind him, a decorative glass vase lay in glittering shards across the floor.

“I‑I didn’t—” Jungkook stammered in his soft angelic voice, shoulders curling inward. “I‑It was an accident…” His pout deepened, trembling.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Jeongukk muttered, rising from his chair. “Was that my vase?”

“…Yes,” Jungkook whispered, voice tiny. “I’m sorry. I swear I didn’t touch it.” He began backing away slowly, like a frightened deer. “I didn’t mean to…”

Before he could retreat any farther, Jeongukk reached out and grabbed Jungkook’s arms—not harshly, but firmly enough to stop him.

Jungkook flinched.

His entire body shrank in on itself, trembling.

His eyes shimmered with fear, wide and glossy.

Jeongukk’s expression softened instantly.

The scared look on Jungkook’s face hit him like a punch.

“Please don’t hurt me…” Jungkook whispered in his soft angelic voice, barely audible.

Jeongukk exhaled slowly, tension draining from his shoulders as he stared at the fragile creature in front of him—this glittery, trembling vampire who looked like he’d shatter just as easily as the vase behind him.

“I’m not going to hurt you,” Jeongukk said, his deep cold voice steady but quieter than before. “There’s glass all over the floor, and you were about to step on it.”

Jungkook blinked, startled, and finally looked down.

Shards of glittering glass lay scattered exactly where his next step would’ve landed—razor‑sharp pieces catching the dim office light like tiny stars.

“Oh…” Jungkook whispered in his soft angelic voice, shoulders curling inward.

Jeongukk let out a long, controlled sigh.

He placed a steady hand on Jungkook’s arm and gently guided him away from the danger.

Jungkook followed obediently, small and quiet, like a frightened woodland creature being led to safety.

Once Jungkook was clear of the mess, Jeongukk turned to look at the shattered remains of the vase.

His chest tightened.

It had been his favorite—an elegant, hand‑painted piece his mother gave him before she died.

A rare thing he actually cared about.

And now it was nothing but glittering fragments on the floor.

But when he glanced back at Jungkook…

The anger he expected to feel simply wasn’t there.

Jungkook stood in the middle of the office, hoodie sleeves bunched up in his hands, wide brown Bambi eyes trembling with guilt.

He looked so innocent.

So genuinely distressed.

So clearly unaware of how fragile human objects were around him.

Jeongukk couldn’t yell at him.

He couldn’t even pretend to be angry.

“I’m sorry…” Jungkook whispered in his soft angelic voice, lower lip wobbling into a pout.

“It’s fine,” Jeongukk said in his deep cold voice—though it lacked its usual bite.

He crouched down and began picking up the larger shards of glass with careful precision.

Jungkook watched silently, guilt radiating off him in waves.

Jeongukk tossed the broken pieces into the trash, then grabbed a broom and swept up the remaining fragments.

When he finished, he set the broom aside and straightened up.

Jungkook was still standing exactly where he’d left him.

Still clutching his sleeves.

Still staring at him with those impossibly wide eyes.

Still looking like a baby deer caught in headlights.

Jeongukk exhaled slowly.

Why did this vampire—of all creatures—have to be so unbelievably cute?

“Let’s go,” Jeongukk said, his deep cold voice echoing through the quiet office.

Jungkook immediately followed, small steps quick and hesitant as he trailed behind him.

Jeongukk walked toward the elevator, pressed the down button, and waited.

The hallway was silent except for the soft hum of the building settling for the night.

When the elevator finally slid open, they stepped inside.

Jeongukk pressed the button for the bottom floor.

The elevator jolted.

Jungkook let out a soft startled yelp and latched onto Jeongukk’s arm, eyes wide and trembling.

“It’s just the elevator moving,” Jeongukk said in his deep cold voice, glancing down at Jungkook’s delicate face.

But Jungkook only clung tighter, shaking slightly like a frightened fawn.

Jeongukk sighed—long, controlled—and placed a steady hand on the back of Jungkook’s head, grounding him.

When the elevator stopped, the doors slid open with a soft chime.

Jeongukk stepped out first, Jungkook glued to his side, fingers curled into the fabric of Jeongukk’s sleeve.

His wide Bambi eyes darted around the empty lobby, taking in every shadow, every flicker of light.

Jeongukk led him outside and toward his car.

The night air was cool, brushing against Jungkook’s cheeks as he looked around with awe.

Jeongukk opened the passenger door and looked at him expectantly.

Jungkook hesitated, then slowly released Jeongukk’s sleeve and climbed into the seat, sitting stiffly like he wasn’t sure if the car would bite him.

Jeongukk shut the door, walked around to the driver’s side, and got in.

The moment the engine started, Jungkook flinched.

“Relax,” Jeongukk said, voice low and cold but not unkind.

Jungkook nodded, though his shoulders stayed tense.

As Jeongukk pulled out of the parking lot and onto the city streets, Jungkook pressed his face to the window, eyes wide with wonder.

The buildings, the streetlights, the passing cars—everything reflected in his warm brown eyes like he was seeing the world for the first time.

Jeongukk glanced at him.

A faint smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.

Jungkook looked like a child discovering something magical.

It was almost ridiculous how a creature known for being dangerous could look so harmless—so soft.

Jeongukk had seen vampires before.

They were terrifying.

Blood‑hungry.

Predatory.

But Jungkook…

Jungkook was none of those things.

He was cute.

Innocent.

Easily startled.

A glittery little creature who looked like he couldn’t harm a fly.

Jeongukk wondered—briefly, begrudgingly—if Jungkook was some kind of divine mistake.

Or maybe God’s favorite creation.

Something too gentle for the world he’d been born into.

“How old are you?” Jeongukk asked, his deep cold voice rumbling through the quiet car.

“...Nineteen years old,” Jungkook answered in his soft angelic voice, still staring out the window with wide curiosity.

“You’re still a baby,” Jeongukk said flatly.

“I am not,” Jungkook pouted, cheeks puffing slightly.

“You are,” Jeongukk insisted, glancing at him. “Every other vampire I’ve heard of is over a thousand years old. Which makes you the youngest one. You’re a baby vampire.”

Jungkook let out a tiny offended huff, turning his face back toward the window.

His pout deepened, but his eyes remained wide as he watched the city blur past—lights, buildings, people, everything new and overwhelming.

After several minutes, Jeongukk turned into a long driveway.

Jungkook’s eyes widened even more as the house came into view.

It wasn’t a house.

It was a fortress.

A three‑story building, sleek and modern, the exterior painted a deep matte black that absorbed the night.

The second floor had a long balcony with glass railings, and the windows were tall, tinted, and expensive‑looking.

The entire place radiated wealth, power, and quiet danger.

Jungkook stared with his mouth slightly open.

Jeongukk parked in front of the house and turned off the engine.

He stepped out, walked around to the passenger side, and opened the door.

Jungkook slowly climbed out, still staring at the house with wide Bambi eyes.

He looked tiny compared to the towering structure—like a lost woodland creature standing before a castle.

Jeongukk started walking toward the front door, and Jungkook immediately followed him, sticking close like a nervous puppy.

His steps were small, hesitant, but full of wonder.

Jeongukk unlocked the door and pushed it open.

They stepped inside, and he shut the door behind them with a soft click.

The interior was just as striking—dark, modern, immaculate.

High ceilings.

Black marble floors.

Soft lighting.

Everything perfectly arranged, perfectly clean, perfectly controlled.

Jungkook stood just inside the doorway, eyes huge, taking in every detail as if he’d stepped into another world entirely.

“Want me to show you around?” Jeongukk asked, his deep cold voice echoing softly through the dark entryway.

“Yes,” Jungkook said in his soft angelic voice, eyes widening with that familiar Bambi‑like sparkle.

“Come on,” Jeongukk replied, turning toward the hallway.

Jungkook followed immediately—quiet, obedient, steps light as if he were afraid to disturb the air itself.

Jeongukk led him through each room, explaining things in short, clipped sentences while Jungkook absorbed everything with wide‑eyed wonder.

The house was immaculate.

Every surface gleamed.

Every object was perfectly placed.

Not a single thing was out of order.

It reminded Jungkook of Jeongukk’s office—cold, organized, expensive, and strangely calming.

He kept his hands tucked into his sleeves, terrified of accidentally breaking something again.

When the tour ended, they stepped into Jeongukk’s bedroom.

It was large, dark, and minimalistic—black sheets, black furniture, soft lighting, and a faint scent of cedar.

“You can sleep wherever you want in my house,” Jeongukk said in his deep cold voice. “Just don’t mess anything up. Or break anything.”

“Okay,” Jungkook said with a soft smile, his angelic voice warm and sincere.

Jeongukk studied him for a moment. “Do you sleep at night or daytime?”

“Daytime,” Jungkook answered, blinking up at him.

“Great,” Jeongukk muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. “That makes things more complicated.”

Jungkook pouted, confused, staring up at him with those soft brown eyes.

Before Jeongukk could say anything else, a small sound broke the silence—

grrrrgle…

Jungkook’s stomach.

Jeongukk raised a pierced eyebrow. “Hungry?”

“Yes…” Jungkook admitted in a soft angelic voice, cheeks warming as he pouted again.

“What do you usually eat?” Jeongukk asked, sitting down on the edge of his bed.

“Blood,” Jungkook whispered, chewing on his bottom lip.

“Animal blood or human blood?” Jeongukk asked, tone unreadable.

“I—” Jungkook started, then stopped.

His brows furrowed.

He looked genuinely confused. “I… don’t know.”

He fidgeted with his sleeves, embarrassed. “My parents always gave me whatever I needed,” he said softly. “I never asked what kind it was…”

Jeongukk stared at him for a long moment—this tiny, glittery, confused vampire who didn’t even know what kind of blood he drank.

He looked impossibly innocent.

And Jeongukk had no idea what he was supposed to do with him.

“Oh my god…” Jeongukk muttered, his deep cold voice dropping into something halfway between disbelief and exasperation.

He dragged a hand down his face. “What did the blood your parents gave you taste like?”

Jungkook blinked, thinking. “Um… like a sharp, salty metallic taste,” he said in his soft angelic voice.

“So they gave you human blood,” Jeongukk concluded, tone flat.

“I guess…” Jungkook whispered, pouting as he looked down at his feet.

Jeongukk stared at him for a long moment—at the delicate features, the glittery pale skin, the soft expression that didn’t match anything he’d ever heard about vampires.

He let out a deep sigh.

“Take that necklace off,” he said.

“Why?” Jungkook asked, blinking up at him with innocent confusion.

“Just take it off.”

Jungkook nodded and reached behind his neck, unclasping the necklace.

The moment it left his skin, the illusion dissolved.

His eyes shifted back into their bright, sparkly orange glow.

His skin regained its pale, moonlit shimmer.

His teeth sharpened into diamond‑like points.

Jeongukk exhaled slowly. “Come here.”

Jungkook obeyed, taking slow steps toward him.

His gaze stayed fixed on Jeongukk’s face, as if searching for reassurance he didn’t know how to ask for.

When he reached him, he stood still, small and fragile, those bright orange eyes shimmering like embers.

Jeongukk lifted his hands and placed them gently on Jungkook’s tiny waist.

The touch made Jungkook blink, startled but not frightened.

Jeongukk guided him closer until Jungkook stood between his legs, close enough for Jeongukk to see every fleck of glitter in his pale skin.

Jungkook pouted again, soft and confused, staring up at him.

“You do know how to drink blood from someone, right?” Jeongukk asked, his deep cold voice steady.

“No…” Jungkook whispered, his angelic voice trembling with embarrassment.

Jeongukk’s brows furrowed. “Then how did you drink the blood your parents gave you?”

“Oh… um… out of a cup.” Jungkook chewed on his bottom lip, eyes dropping to the floor.

Jeongukk let out a deep groan and tilted his head back, staring at the ceiling as if asking the universe why it had sent him this vampire—this glittery, confused, harmless‑looking creature who didn’t even know the basics of his own kind.

Jeongukk lifted his hand and gently tilted Jungkook’s chin up so he could see his face again.

Jungkook’s glittery skin caught the light, making him look even more unreal—like something fragile, something rare, something that didn’t belong in a world as harsh as this one.

Jeongukk had always wondered what a vampire bite felt like-out of morbid curiosity, nothing more.

He’d imagined it sharp, terrifying, dangerous.

But looking at Jungkook—this tiny, innocent creature who didn’t even know how to feed properly—Jeongukk realized he wasn’t afraid.

He was curious.

And for the first time, he wasn’t sure if that curiosity was a good thing.

“Okay,” Jeongukk said, his deep cold voice echoing faintly in the quiet room. “You’re going to feed. Right here.”

He lifted a hand and tapped the side of his neck, the gesture deliberate, steady. “Sink your fangs into this spot.”

Jungkook’s breath caught.

His sparkly orange eyes flickered with uncertainty, but he nodded.

“O‑okay…” he whispered in his soft angelic voice, the sound fragile, almost trembling.

Jeongukk reached out, his fingers brushing Jungkook’s jaw as he guided his face closer.

Jungkook’s breath warmed Jeongukk’s skin, shaky and uneven.

His lips parted slightly, fangs glinting faintly as he hesitated—just for a heartbeat—before pressing them gently against Jeongukk’s neck.

A sharp sting.

A tiny gasp.

A tremor running through Jungkook’s small frame.

“Push them farther in,” Jeongukk murmured, voice low and cold, though something unsteady flickered beneath the surface.

Jungkook obeyed, pressing deeper until his fangs were fully buried.

His hands clutched at Jeongukk’s shoulders, not out of desire but out of fear—fear of hurting him, fear of doing it wrong.

Jeongukk inhaled sharply, his fingers tightening around Jungkook’s thighs—not possessive, but grounding.

He lifted Jungkook with surprising ease, guiding him until the smaller boy straddled his lap, light and trembling.

“Now… slowly,” Jeongukk said, placing his hands firmly on Jungkook’s thighs to steady him. “Drink.”

Jungkook let out a tiny, muffled sound—half‑whimper, half‑instinct—as he began to draw blood.

Jungkook’s first pull was small, almost timid, a soft, shaky inhale through his nose as his fangs remained buried in Jeongukk’s neck.

A muffled hum escaped him — not pleasure, but instinct, fear, and the shock of tasting warm blood for the first time directly from a living source.

His tiny hands clung to Jeongukk’s shirt, knuckles pale.

Jeongukk’s breath stuttered.

His fingers tightened around Jungkook’s thighs, not to restrain him but to steady himself.

The sensation was nothing like he had prepared for — sharp at first, then warm, then something deeper, something that crawled beneath his skin and made his pulse stumble.

Jungkook continued to drink slowly, each pull careful, hesitant, as if he were terrified of taking too much.

His small frame trembled with every swallow.

His hums vibrated faintly against Jeongukk’s skin, sending shivers down Jeongukk’s spine.

Jeongukk bit down on his bottom lip, jaw tightening.

He hadn’t expected this — the strange rush of heat, the prickling at the base of his skull, the way his breath kept catching in his throat.

He had expected pain, maybe fear.

Not this dizzying, disorienting warmth spreading through his chest.

He tilted his head slightly, exposing more of his neck, granting Jungkook easier access.

The movement was instinctive, almost protective, as if he didn’t want Jungkook to struggle or lose his grip.

Jungkook’s hands trembled harder.

His fangs sank a fraction deeper, and Jeongukk’s breath hitched again.

He wrapped one arm around Jungkook’s tiny waist, pulling him closer so he wouldn’t fall or panic.

His other hand remained on Jungkook’s thigh, grounding him, anchoring him through the overwhelming rush of instinct.

“Easy…” Jeongukk breathed, voice rougher, strained. “You’re doing fine.”

Jungkook let out another soft, shaky hum against his skin — overwhelmed, frightened, instinct‑driven — and continued to drink, slow and careful, as if every swallow was a battle between hunger and fear.

Jeongukk closed his eyes for a moment, steadying his breath, trying to process the storm of sensations crashing through him.

He had expected many things from letting a vampire feed on him.

But he had not expected this intensity.

This heat.

This strange, unnerving pull that made his chest tighten and his breath falter.

He held Jungkook closer, protective despite the sting in his neck, despite the trembling in his own hands.

“Just… breathe,” Jeongukk murmured, voice low, cold, but softer than before. “I’ve got you.”

And Jungkook, shaking, clinging, overwhelmed, drank a little more — trusting him.

Jungkook’s fingers curled tighter into Jeongukk’s shirt, the fabric bunching beneath his trembling hands as he continued to drink.

Each slow pull sent a faint shiver through his small frame, his soft hum vibrating weakly against Jeongukk’s neck.

His breath came in uneven, frightened puffs, warm against Jeongukk’s skin.

Jeongukk puffed his cheeks out, exhaling a long, steadying breath as he slowly leaned back onto the bed.

The mattress dipped beneath his weight, and Jungkook instinctively followed, ending up lying on top of him — light, shaking, clinging.

Jeongukk’s back met the sheets, and his eyes fluttered half‑shut, lashes trembling as he tried to process the strange, overwhelming sensations crawling through him.

His grip around Jungkook’s tiny waist tightened just a little, not to restrain him but to keep him steady, to keep him from slipping in his panic.

Jungkook’s body trembled so hard Jeongukk could feel each shake through the thin layers of fabric between them.

With a quiet exhale, Jeongukk lifted one hand and placed it gently on the back of Jungkook’s head.

His palm rested against the soft strands of Jungkook’s hair, fingers spreading slightly as if trying to soothe the trembling away.

“Easy…” he murmured under his breath, though his voice was barely more than a rough whisper.

Minutes passed — slow, heavy, tense.

Jungkook’s breathing steadied little by little, though his hands never loosened their grip on Jeongukk’s shirt.

His hums softened, turning into small, shaky exhales as the initial shock of feeding began to settle.

Finally, Jungkook hesitated.

His fangs paused mid‑pull, and his small body stiffened as if he suddenly remembered he was supposed to stop.

With a shaky breath, he slowly withdrew his fangs from Jeongukk’s neck.

The motion was careful, almost fearful, as though he worried he might hurt him more by pulling away too fast.

A thin line of blood trailed down Jeongukk’s skin.

Jungkook’s sparkly orange eyes widened, and he leaned in instinctively, his tongue brushing gently over the bite mark.

The movement was soft, timid, almost apologetic — as if he were trying to erase the evidence of what he’d done.

Jeongukk’s breath hitched, not from pain but from the sudden cold rush of air against the now‑exposed wound.

His hand remained on the back of Jungkook’s head, steady, grounding, protective.

Jungkook’s fingers tightened in Jeongukk’s shirt, still curled there like he was afraid to let go.

His sparkly orange eyes searched Jeongukk’s face anxiously, his lips trembling.

“You okay?” he whispered in his soft angelic voice, barely louder than a breath.

Jeongukk’s eyes fluttered open slowly, heavy and unfocused for a moment before they settled on Jungkook’s worried expression.

“Mmh. I’m okay,” he murmured in his deep cold voice, though the words came out softer than usual, almost slurred with exhaustion.

Jungkook’s pout deepened. “Did I… did I drink too much?” he asked, voice small, fragile, guilt already pooling in his eyes.

“No,” Jeongukk said, blinking slowly. “You didn’t.”

His voice stayed cold, but the edges were frayed — tired, warm, strangely gentle.

Jungkook let out a shaky breath.

“Okay…” he whispered, chewing on his bottom lip, his shoulders curling inward like he was trying to make himself smaller.

Jeongukk studied him for a moment, then asked, “Full?”

The word came out low, rough, like it took effort to speak.

Jungkook’s cheeks flushed a soft pink. “Yes…” he admitted in his angelic voice, eyes dropping shyly.

“Good.”

Jeongukk’s eyes fluttered shut again, his chest rising and falling in slow, uneven breaths.

A wave of warmth washed through him — dizzying, heavy, almost dreamlike.

His limbs felt too light and too heavy at the same time.

The room seemed to tilt slightly, but he kept one arm wrapped around Jungkook’s tiny waist, holding him securely against his chest.

Jungkook stayed perfectly still, watching him with wide, worried eyes.

His small hands rested on Jeongukk’s chest, feeling the unsteady rhythm of his heartbeat.

Jeongukk swallowed, throat dry.

He hadn’t expected the dizziness.

He hadn’t expected the warmth spreading through him like a slow-burning ember.

He hadn’t expected the strange, protective instinct that tightened in his chest when he looked at Jungkook’s trembling face.

But he knew one thing with absolute certainty:

He would do it again.

Every time Jungkook needed blood.

Every time those sparkly orange eyes looked at him with fear or hunger or confusion.

He wasn’t going to let the tiny vampire starve.

Not now.

Not ever.
