Chapter 13

Two weeks had slipped by since that tumultuous incident, and now a sense of peace enveloped the household.

The only inhabitants were Jeongukk, his other son Jungkook, and Taehyung, who lay peacefully asleep in the bedroom, nestled against Jeongukk.

The morning sun streamed through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the room, illuminating the serene scene.

Jungkook sat on the edge of the plush bed, his heart racing with a mix of surprise and curiosity as he looked at his dad, his wide eyes reflecting the sunlight.

“Dad, you want to what?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper, not wanting to disturb Taehyung’s tranquil slumber.

Jeongukk’s gaze remained soft as he met Jungkook's curious expression.

“I need you to take me and Taehyung to Paris. I want to marry him,” he revealed, his voice filled with a mix of excitement and nervous energy.

Jungkook’s brows knitted together in disbelief. “So, this is the final part of your plan?” he asked, trying to piece together the puzzle of his father’s intentions.

“Yes, exactly! So, will you help me?” Jeongukk pressed, his eyes shimmering with determination.

Jungkook sighed, resigning himself to the task. “Fine. What all do you need me to do?”

Jeongukk reached for a carefully prepared list he had tucked away, presenting it to his son. “You need to set everything up. It’s all written down.”

Jungkook scanned the list, then looked back at his father. “Okay. But who’s walking him down the aisle?”

An amused grin crept onto his face, the thought hitting him as both hilarious and daunting.

“You are,” Jeongukk replied, a teasing glint in his eye.

“What!?” Jungkook exclaimed, incredulous.

“Shh! Don’t wake Taehyung,” Jeongukk admonished softly, raising a finger to his lips.

With an embarrassed nod, Jungkook mumbled an apology. “Sorry.”

“So will you do it?” Jeongukk pressed once more, his heart hopeful.

“Fine,” Jungkook agreed reluctantly, a mix of excitement and trepidation swirling within him.

Jeongukk leaned in closer, his voice almost a whisper. “You will need to head there today. I want this wedding to happen in just a few days.”

“Okay,” Jungkook replied, standing up from the bed and preparing to take on the monumental task ahead of him.

As he walked out of the bedroom, he gently shut the door behind him, ensuring the peaceful bubble surrounding Taehyung remained undisturbed.

Jeongukk’s gaze fell tenderly upon Taehyung’s serene face, framed by tousled hair.

“Hopefully, everything goes as planned,” he murmured to himself, a quiet hope blossoming in his chest as he envisioned the future he longed to share with Taehyung.

////

Four days had passed since Jeongukk had entrusted his son, Jungkook, with the critical task of organizing his wedding.

After receiving a reassuring call the previous night confirming that everything was meticulously arranged, Jeongukk felt a surge of excitement.

At that moment, he and his younger son, Taehyung, were nestled in the plush interior of their car, making their way to the airport, where adventure awaited them.

“Where are we going, Daddy?” Taehyung asked, his curious eyes sparkling with innocence.

Jeongukk smiled softly, glancing at Taehyung before refocusing on the road.

“It’s a surprise, Bambi. Just be patient,” he replied, affectionately resting his hand on Taehyung’s thigh, relishing the warmth of their bond.

Taehyung pouted slightly, but his anticipation was palpable.

As they arrived at the airport, Jeongukk parked the car and swiftly exited, circling around to assist Taehyung, who had unbuckled himself.

He gently helped him stand, then retrieved their bag from the backseat.

With a protective arm wrapped around Taehyung’s waist, they strode towards the exclusive gate for their private jet, a special arrangement made by Jungkook.

Upon stepping aboard the jet, Jeongukk led Taehyung towards a cozy bedroom at the back, adorned with soft bedding and subtle lighting that created a serene ambiance.

“Go ahead and rest, Bambi. I know you’re tired,” he said lovingly, sinking beside Taehyung on the plush mattress.

“Can you give me a hint about where we’re going?” Taehyung asked, his eyes wide and pleading.

Jeongukk chuckled softly, brushing a strand of hair from Taehyung’s forehead.

“Alright, I’ll tell you. We’re headed to Paris for a little while. I have something wonderful planned for us,” he revealed, his eyes twinkling with excitement.

“Really?” Taehyung’s face lit up, excitement bubbling within him.

“Absolutely, Bambi,” Jeongukk affirmed, a gentle smile spreading across his face. “You would agree to anything Daddy suggests, right?”

“Yes!” Taehyung exclaimed, clutching the fabric of Jeongukk’s shirt.

“Would you want to spend the rest of your life with Daddy?” Jeongukk continued, leaning in closer.

“Yes!” Taehyung repeated, unwavering in his response.

“Good,” Jeongukk responded, pressing a tender kiss to Taehyung’s lips. “Now, get some sleep. I’ll wake you when we arrive.”

“Okay,” Taehyung murmured, snuggling into Jeongukk’s chest, his eyelids growing heavy as he drifted into a peaceful slumber.

After six hours of smooth flying, the jet descended onto the runway in Paris. Jeongukk gently shook Taehyung awake, his voice a soft whisper. “We’re here, Bambi.”

Slowly, Taehyung stirred, blinking sleep from his eyes as they made their way to the exit, where a black SUV awaited them, with Jungkook standing beside it, wearing an encouraging smile.

“Are you ready?” Jungkook asked, excitement radiating from him.

“Yeah,” Jeongukk replied, glancing at Taehyung.

Jungkook climbed into the driver’s seat while Jeongukk and Taehyung settled into the back, the city of Paris coming into view as they drove for about thirty minutes.

“What are we doing here?” Taehyung asked, clearly puzzled as they pulled up to a stunning venue, adorned with delicate flowers and shimmering lights.

Jungkook grinned mischievously. “We’re here for you and Dad’s wedding,” he declared.

Taehyung’s eyes widened in shock. “W-what?” he stammered, disbelief etched across his features.

“Surprise, Bambi,” Jeongukk chuckled, his heart racing with joy. “Let’s go get ready.”

Together, Jeongukk and Taehyung stepped out of the vehicle, with Jungkook leading them to a well-appointed room to prepare.

Once inside, Jeongukk turned to Taehyung, his concern evident in his warm gaze.

“Are you okay with marrying Daddy, Bambi?” he asked gently, cupping Taehyung's face in his hands.

“Yeah,” Taehyung replied, a radiant smile spreading across his lips.

“Then let’s get ready,” Jeongukk responded, his own happiness shining through as he planted a soft kiss on Taehyung’s lips.

He helped Taehyung into a cozy outfit of sweatpants and a matching sweatshirt, ensuring he would feel comfortable throughout the ceremony.

Jeongukk opted for a pair of black ripped jeans and a fitted black shirt that accentuated his figure while exuding effortless style.

Once they were ready, they stepped out of their preparation room with Jungkook waiting eagerly for them.

“Ready?” he asked, surveying both of them with pride.

“Yeah,” Jeongukk confirmed, excitement bubbling within him.

“Great, let’s go,” Jungkook replied enthusiastically.

Walking through the elegant venue, Jeongukk led the way down the aisle and stood beside the officiant, anticipation leaping in his chest.

As music filled the air, Jungkook linked his arm with Taehyung’s, leading him toward Jeongukk.

It was a moment of pure happiness, the air thick with love.

As they reached the altar, Jungkook placed Taehyung's hand into Jeongukk's and stepped aside, a proud smile gracing his face.

The priest began the ceremony in a resonant voice. “Today, we are gathered here to witness this beautiful union between Jeon Jeongguk and Kim Taehyung."

The priest turned towards Jeongukk. "Do you, Jeon Jeongguk, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband, to live together in matrimony, to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, to have and to hold, from this day forward, as long as you both shall live?”

“I do,” Jeongukk answered, his eyes sparkling with joy.

The priest turned to Taehyung, voice steady and warm. “Do you, Kim Taehyung, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband, to live together in matrimony, to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, to have and to hold, from this day forward, as long as you both shall live?”

“I do,” Taehyung said, smiling radiantly, his heart full of love.

“I now pronounce you husband and husband. You may kiss the groom,” the officiant declared, his voice carrying the weight of the moment.

Jeongukk leaned forward, ready to press his lips against Taehyung’s, a culmination of dreams realized, when suddenly, the sharp crack of a gunshot shattered the tranquility.

Jeongukk staggered, instinctively clutching his side as chaos erupted around them.

When Taehyung's gaze landed on Jeongukk, who staggered back while desperately clutching his side, a chill ran through him.

The sharp crack of a gunshot echoed through the air, and his instincts kicked in; he snapped his head toward the source of the sound.

What met his eyes sent a rush of darkness clouding his thoughts.

In the dim lighting of the entryway stood a cohort of men, all armed, their faces twisted into smirks.

One figure stood out among them, gripping Jungkook—his brother—by the arm, a gun pressed menacingly against his temple.

“Ah, what a delightful scene we have here,” the man drawled mockingly, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

“The legendary mafia boss Jeon Jeongguk is preparing to marry his own son.” He surveyed Taehyung with an unsettling grin, clearly enjoying the torment.

“I can’t blame you,” he continued, his eyes roving over Taehyung’s form. “He’s quite the catch. Why don’t you come a little closer, darling?”

“Bambi, don’t!” Jeongukk croaked, his voice ragged as he fought against the pain radiating from his side, crimson droplets staining his fingers as he coughed weakly.

Taehyung’s focus returned to the man with the weapon, his eyes narrowing into a piercing glare, a sinister smirk creeping onto his face.

The sight of Jungkook, tugged at something deep within him.

“Oh, baby doll~,” Jungkook said softly, his voice deep while a smirk was on his lips.

With a determined breath, Taehyung closed his eyes for a brief moment, fighting back the wave of fear that threatened to overwhelm him.

He turned away from the chaos and strode toward Jeongukk, his expression shifting to one of tenderness.

He leaned in and pressed his lips softly against Jeongukk’s, allowing a fleeting moment of solace to wash over them before pulling back, a wicked grin crossing his features.

“Now we’re officially married,” Taehyung declared, a dark chuckle escaping his lips, the gravity of the situation only fueling his resolve.

As he straightened, he took purposeful steps down the makeshift aisle, locking his eyes with Jungkook's.

When he reached the man holding his brother captive, he stared up defiantly, his voice a low growl filled with fierce protectiveness.

“No one— and I mean fucking NO ONE—holds my brother at gunpoint, and no one shoots my fucking dad unless that’s me,” he stated, each word laced with a dangerous promise, a fire igniting within him that would not be extinguished.

As Jeongukk lay on the cold ground, his breathing shallow and labored, he pressed his hand tightly against the wound on his side, desperately trying to stem the flow of blood.

His eyes widened in alarm as he stared at Taehyung, who stood nearby with a casual smirk that sent a shiver down his spine.

“Bambi… get away from that man,” Jeongukk rasped, his voice strained as he coughed up a small splash of blood, the metallic taste bitter on his tongue.

Taehyung glanced over his shoulder, his expression a mix of arrogance and amusement.

“Relax, Dad. Nothing bad is going to happen. At least not to me,” he said with a nonchalant shrug, the smirk never leaving his face.

It was as if he thrived in the chaos surrounding them.

His attention shifted back to the ominous figure standing in front of him, a shadow looming with a gun raised, glinting menacingly in the dim light.

But Taehyung's eyes soon flicked to Jungkook, who was still being held at gunpoint, his expression a blend of fear and defiance.

“And as for you, brother,” Taehyung said, his voice dripping with a mix of taunting and determination.

“Bëhuni gati.” The words rolled off his tongue with a smirk, charged with an underlying promise of the unpredictable.
